Mizzentop Day School established the Herbert H. Redl Learning Center thanks to the generous support of The Herbert H. Redl Family Foundation. This transformative initiative embodies our shared commitment to advancing literacy and empowering every student to reach their full potential.

The Herbert H. Redl Learning Center is the only facility in the Hudson Valley solely dedicated to the Orton-Gillingham approach. This  structured, multisensory method was designed to support bright, capable learners who face challenges in reading. Thanks to the Foundation’s investment, three Mizzentop educators are now fully certified in this research-based method and provide individualized tutoring year-round.

In addition to training and instruction, we have reimagined and repurposed a previously underutilized area on campus into a fully equipped, specialized classroom designed to support the needs of Orton-Gillingham learners. Looking ahead, this initiative is a cornerstone of our long-term campus development plan, with the goal of expanding access to high-quality literacy support throughout the greater Hudson Valley.
