About Us

At Mizzentop, your child is free to be exactly who they are. Since 1998, our Pre-K through Grade 8 private day school in Pawling, New York, has paired strong academics with plenty of room to grow, in and out of the classroom.

Academics

Mizzentop's curriculum is rigorous across every subject and designed to help students make connections across disciplines and understand the wider world. Teachers challenge each student at the right level and encourage curiosity and academic risk-taking. By graduation, Mizzentop students are well prepared for strong secondary schools throughout the region.

Living Values

Living Values are at the heart of Mizzentop. Twelve values, including respect, honesty, love, and responsibility, are woven throughout daily school life. They shape how students treat themselves, one another, and the larger community, and they provide a common language for how we learn, work, and live together.

The North Star Model

Our North Star Model helps us understand each student as a whole person. Teachers and administrators pay attention to each child's strengths, challenges, interests, relationships, and growth over time. Because many students are with us for years, that understanding deepens as they move through the school and helps us support them with greater intention.

Small Classes

Small classes allow teachers to know students well, notice when they are struggling, and provide more individual feedback and support. Students have more opportunities to participate, ask questions, and build strong relationships with their teachers.

Beyond the Classroom

Mizzentop students have many opportunities to learn beyond the core curriculum. Athletics, visual and performing arts, coding, cooking, elective classes, clubs, and community service give students room to explore new interests. These experiences encourage them to try something new, build confidence, and discover their interests and passions.

Investing in the Future

Mizzentop continues to invest in spaces and technology that support hands-on learning. Our new Innovation Hub gives students opportunities to design, build, experiment, solve problems, and work with technology in meaningful ways. These experiences help prepare students to adapt to new technologies, think critically, and use emerging tools with confidence and purpose.
