Athletics: Overview
Philosophy
The athletic program at Mizzentop Day School is an educational and competitive sports experience within an atmosphere of sportsmanship and personal excellence. Our teams promote a high standard of competence, character, civility, and citizenship. Students can choose to participate in field hockey, soccer, basketball or lacrosse.
Goals
Beginning in the Fifth Grade, students are encouraged to participate in the Athletic Program. Our Athletic Program has three goals for students.
-
The first goal is to develop athletic competency through a quality program that emphasizes skills development, knowledge of the game, rules, strategies, and fitness with regard to conditioning and healthy behavior.
-
The second goal is to develop a sense of fair play through responsibility, accountability, trustworthiness, and dedication to their chosen sport.
-
The third goal is to develop character in the student athlete through a continual commitment to civility, respect, fairness and caring towards others.
