The Arts:
Visual and Performing
Visual Arts
Our new art studio houses a state-of-the-art kiln, a room dedicated to clay and woodworking, and a room where students explore printmaking and painting. Students' artwork is displayed throughout the building during the school year, as well as in October at the F.R.O.G.S./Great Swamp environmental exhibit and in May at the annual art show.
Performing Arts
Drama and Music have always been an essential component of a Mizzentop Day School education. In our new facility, which offers an auditorium with a stage and a high-tech sound system, a renewed enthusiasm for drama, music, choral, and instrument lessons has grown.
Drama classes perform one-act plays, skits, and plays during the school year. The Music, Choral, and Instrument programs are housed in a new music room, with ideal acoustics to enhance practice and performance.
Chorus includes popular annual recitals such as the Thanksgiving Assembly, the Winter Concert, and our Spring Musical.
Music lessons are encouraged during the school day and after school with adjunct faculty. As a group, students often perform at concerts and during graduation. Eighth Grade students take a course in guitar, and perform during graduation ceremonies at the end of the year. We offer instrument lessons on woodwind, percussion, strings, and horns. The band also performs annually.
