Technology News: With the assistance of Jason Gmitter and MDS parent Ray Henderson, we now have an internet device attached to our network that has greatly enhanced the speed by which we populate internet sites during the course of the day. Many thanks to Cisco Systems for providing this device and to Ray and Jason for installing it on our network.

Through a partnership with Connecticut Business Systems and Mike Kaprinski, MDS has leased a new multi-functioning copier which operates as a network device for printing as well as scanning. With coordinating software, it allows users the ability to scan a paper form from the copier converting automatically to a PDF, which then will be fully searcchable, editable, and allow us to create fileable PDF forms. Thanks to Mike Kaprinski and CBS for considering our current technology needs and coming up with a good, practical and cost effective solution.

In October the Pre-school and Kindergarten classes were treated to a "Little Chef" event by the Parents' Association. Each child was able to whip and stir up their own creations of pasta and fruit salad. Then they were able to decorate their own cupcake with a variety of candy.

The Third Annual MDS Golf Outing and first Oktoberfest Dinner was a great success! Upon arrival, the 40 golfers purchased mulligans at the registration table, and proceeded to gear up for the game with lunch. From there, players went onto enjoy a dry, albeit slightly chilly, day out on the course. With close to 100 people in attendance for the Oktoberfest dinner, a warm fire provided a cozy and friendly ambiance. A special thanks to the Higgins Family and HyTape International as our event sponsor; The Marvier Family and Junket Productions as our Oktoberfest sponsor; and the Muncey Family for their help in preparing for the event. We appreciate all the support from all of our sponsors and participants. - Save the Date - the next Golf Outing & Oktoberfest will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010!

MDS Volunteer Service Award Presented to Gayle Zelazny - On September 19th Mizzentop held a Founder's Day BBQ to welcome back students and introduce new families to the entire school community. The Parents' Association provided games and activities for students. Lunch was served in the afternoon. The highlight of the afternoon was the honoring of one of our most involved volunteers, Gayle Zelazny. Gayle's community volunteerism includes Pawling Little League, the Pawling Beekman Roller Hockey League, Pawling Youth Hockey Program, Pawling Youth Soccer Program, the Pawlign Free Library, the Ryan McElroy Children's Cancer Foundation, and many other organizations and committees. Here at MDS, as a parent of a past graduate, Gayle has been an invaluable resource over the years, donating her time and expertise to the Institutional Advancement Committee and as a driving force behind our annual gala, which has grown in both attendance and funds raised since her involvement. We extend a heartfelt thanks to Gayle, once again, for her giving spirit and dedication to our progam.
